Billy Haines, the man often credited with transforming neo-classicism style into what is now known as Hollywood Regency, goes down in infamy with the quote, ” I would rather have taste than either love or money,” could not have been more true to himself. After a successful acting career, Billy began his design career by opening an antiques shop frequented by many of his Hollywood friends. Joan Crawford hired him to update her dark, foreboding mansion with many of the more modern pieces Billy coveted and later designed himself. Lindley Associates continues his legacy today, by faithfully creating William Haines furniture with authentic size and scale, accurately reproduced in a time honored fashion.
