You can't always get want you want...

Mick may not have been crooning about coffee tables, but the same principle seems to apply when shopping for the right piece of furniture. So here’s the scoop on finding quality, custom designed modern furniture on the web. You might just find, you get what you need…
We’ve all been in that same predicament when shopping for a table; stumbling across the perfect Lucite table only to have it be an oval, when you really wanted a round. Or you’ve found a source for mirrored end tables, but they don’t come with a set of drawers. It is nice however, to have some sort of starting point for inspiration; a silhouette, style or material that you can visualize and then customize to make your own.
The good news is that many online resources offer beautiful custom work along with their collections. Their work is often inspired by the vintage pieces that they have collected over the years, so they have the integrity of vintage design with a modern spin, suited exactly to your specifications.

Seasonal affective disorder got you down? Although it’s only the last week of January, around this time of year, I would even sell my youngest for a weekend in St. Barths. Who am I kidding? I am so desperate I’d take Daytona Beach. It made me feel a lot better to hear that Jan. 22nd, was called Blue Monday by a Welsh group studying the worst day of the year. This led me to try and think of inexpensive ways to ‘brighten’ up my life. CB2 has a nice lacquer lamp called the Ada for $59. I might even add a fabulous vintage shade to add spark to an otherwise gloomy month. If you are really blue and need to simulate sunlight maybe overhead lighting is in order. CB2has a fun dome light, the Eclipse, for $29.95. For real Drama, check out Liz's Antique Hardware's orange powder-coated flush mount. It’s very hip and youthful — a real pick-me-up. While it’s a bit more pricey at $395 than CB2, who can put a price on mental health.
